"A temporary home"- this promise is realized in a unique way "as humane medicine by persons for persons" in this acute care clinic. I felt at home from the very first moment. An appreciative and respectful approach to people, trusting cooperation, discussions with doctors at eye level, valuable impulses and suggestions, plus an individually tailored, varied therapy program with excellent therapists, cultural evenings together, the community among the patients - all this provides the basis for successful and sustainable treatment. Personal medicine is lived with conviction and heart by all employees.
In 2021, I was at Klinikum Schloss Lütgenhof for the first time with diagnoses of obesity, depression, and others. Previously, I had tried for more than 10 years to lose weight with diets and various forms of therapy, to get out of the depression loop as well as to relieve my chronic pain. After my 6-week stay in late 2021, I managed to lose a significant amount of weight and have been able to maintain my weight to this day. As a result, I am no longer at acute risk of developing type 2 diabetes and have been able to regain strength, mobility, zest for life and self-confidence. At the castle I received help to help myself. I was able to implement changes after the stay. After leaving, I changed my daily routine and successfully integrated sports and a change in diet into my daily life. I would not have thought that was possible.
At the beginning of 2023, I noticed that I was suffering increasingly from tinnitus and stress symptoms due to difficult life circumstances and was again in inpatient treatment at Schloss Lütgenhof from July to September 2023. I am very grateful for what I was able to recognize, understand and learn about myself during my stay! I have "de-evolved" since 2021, am learning to feel again and to perceive my needs. I am on my way to becoming the person I am. Change is difficult, but possible and leaving old, familiar paths is scary, but it is worth it to have the courage!
Thank you to all the staff of Schloss Lütgenhof and to "Personal Medicine", because it is truly holistic, because it grasps the human being in its entirety. I hope that this concept will become more widely known and that it will be able to help many people in the future.
