The business is run by Chris Williams, who brings six years of operating experience and three generations of construction knowledge to every project taken on.
We work on domestic gardens of all sizes, from small improvements and single trade jobs through to full garden renovations and complete builds from scratch. Whether a client needs a new patio, a lawn relay, raised garden beds, timber sleeper structures, fencing, a gravel pathway or a complete garden overhaul, we have the experience and the trade relationships to deliver it properly.
Our approach to every job starts with a free site visit. We come out, look at the ground conditions, assess access, drainage and levels, discuss what the client wants from the space and put together a clear written quote based on what we actually find. There are no vague estimates, no figures pulled from a phone call and no surprises when the invoice arrives. The quote covers the scope, the materials and the cost. Clients know what is included before we start.
Groundwork is central to everything we do. A patio is only as good as the base underneath it. A lawn will only perform if the ground has been properly prepared before the turf goes down. Timber sleeper structures need to be set correctly to retain the load placed on them over time. We do not cut corners on preparation because the preparation is what determines how the finished job holds up in three, five and ten years time. We see regularly what happens when these steps get skipped and we are not interested in producing that kind of work.
We install natural stone patios using materials from quality suppliers including London Stone and Talasey. Our stone selection covers Indian sandstone, Kandla Grey sandstone and a range of other natural stone options suited to different properties, budgets and design briefs. All patios are laid on a properly compacted sub-base with correct drainage falls built in from the outset.
Turfing work is carried out with the same attention to preparation. We have worked with quality turf suppliers including Sherrella Gardens and take the time to get ground levels right and consolidate the soil properly before laying begins. Lawn edging is finished using CoreLP edging products where specified, which holds clean lines and curves over the long term without the movement you get from lesser alternatives.
For garden renovations we work across the full scope of what a project requires. We design layouts around how clients actually want to use their outdoor space, whether that is an entertaining garden with a large patio and seating area, a low maintenance garden with gravel and planting beds, a family garden built to last through years of use, or a free flowing curved design with mixed materials and defined zones. Every project is different and we plan each one accordingly.
We source sleepers from trusted trade suppliers and have built strong working relationships with the suppliers we use regularly. We work with CoreLP for edging solutions, Hallstone for topsoil, and maintain trade accounts with regional suppliers across Herefordshire and Gloucestershire. These relationships mean we can access quality materials reliably and at the right price for our clients.
Restricted access is not a problem we turn jobs down over. We have completed projects in tight urban courtyards, properties with narrow side access, gardens accessed only by staircase and new build plots with compacted or disturbed ground from the construction process. Where machinery cannot get in, the work gets done by hand. The standard does not change based on the difficulty of the access.
Northwood Landscape is fully insured and all work is carried out by us directly. We do not subcontract the work out once a job is agreed. We are on site from start to finish and we do not leave until the work is complete and the site is tidy. Clients are kept informed throughout the job and any adjustments to the scope during the works are discussed and agreed before changes are made.
We offer a free site visit and written quote on all jobs with no obligation. Clients are under no pressure to proceed and will always receive a clear written breakdown of what is included in the price before making a decision.
