When we finally turned to Meike, we had already tried several months of internet tips, well-intentioned advice and much more. We were, after almost 4 months, in which our then 8.5 month old daughter was awake at times every 15 minutes at night and wanted something to drink, just so tired and helpless. To us, all the advice was worth trying as long as we didn't hear: let her cry it out, or eventually she'll be asleep when she's cried herself tired. I paid attention to sleep times, signs of tiredness, regularities, etc., we had a bedtime routine since birth. But we only ever changed individual components, which had never led to longer sleep intervals. I then read a lot about sleep coaching sometime after Christmas, but was somewhat reluctant to accept this help because of the price. But desperation eventually drives you to try it out and say to yourself, no matter what it costs, we'll try it now. And looking back, I have to say how stupid it was that all three of us struggled for 4.5 months. Somehow you think it's just a "phase" and it will pass. And it certainly does, the only question is whether you want to endure it and expose yourself and your child to this agonizing lack of sleep or whether you would rather accept help.
Meike was and is a blessing: already in our first conversation I thought: Mega, we'll get it together. And that's how it was: she came, changed several "set screws" and not just one like we always did. And lo and behold: already in the 2nd night our daughter slept several hours at a stretch. Meike was always there with advice and an open ear and to this day (our daughter is now 13 months) asks how things are going....
And what can I say: after a short time, our daughter got out of the habit of eating at night by simply sleeping through the night.
Currently she is switching from 2 naps to 1, getting 4 molars at once and sleeping in her own room is still to come- so it remains exciting, but we are very confident that we will also master these challenges and suddenly sleeping is fun for everyone!
Knowing Meike would help if necessary makes us feel very relaxed about the upcoming sleep challenges....
Meike, thank you thank you! And you wouldn't know it: she can still climb in the light as well as in the dark and now running comes along with it ! :)
