In November 2021 I had sudden onset of Trigeminal Neuralgia (left maxillary division). Over the next 8 months I tried all the suggested medicines (Carbamazepine, Gabapentin, Duloxetine, Amitriptyline) with little or no success in changing the pain of TN in my face.
Determined to avoid (Micro Vascular Decompression) surgery, I went to Berlin for treatment with Joan Montserrat, Aug 31, 2022. I had a second appointment on Sept 5th. Joan's approach to healing the nerve requires hands (and tools) in contact with the structures through which the nerve travels, and with the nerves themselves. This is an uncomfortable process. However, beginning about 2 weeks after the second treatment I could report that the severity of my symptoms had changed. The quality-of-life index was not being dominated by TN. This does not mean that the pain stopped completely, but rather it shifted (from my cheekbone to the upper jaw and upper lip).
My third appointment with Joan was on 18th October, 2022. It consisted of targeted contact with the nerve endings found in the skin around the nose and on the upper lip. Very uncomfortable work.
Now, two weeks after this last treatment I can report continued significant improvement. The range of places which trigger the neuralgia has narrowed to a small area (several teeth left front). The intensity of the attacks is significantly lower (a 3, as opposed to many days of 8 or 9) and the duration of attacks is much shorter.
If you suffer from Trigeminal Neuralgia, you should make your way to see Joan Montserrat in Berlin
