The first ZEN Sesshin in the break room: In the middle of the hectic everyday life into a ZEN Sesshin of a different kind, ambulant and in the middle of Cologne. Normally, a sesshin takes place in a rather secluded environment, such as a monastery or a seminar facility. Two experienced ZEN teachers, Waltraud Peppel and Michael Neuber, introduce ZEN meditation (zazen), the small tea ceremony (sarei) and walking meditation (kinhin); in addition there are units of movement, stretching and fascia training, led by Daniela Donike. Both complement each other wonderfully, and very quickly one comes into a wonderful state of concentration, mindfulness and serenity. Also, but perhaps especially because the second day is quite demanding (in total 9 hours of training, starting at 5:00 in the morning and ending at 21:00), you suddenly realize how much time a day actually has and how intensively you can perceive it.
We were a small group, with the teachers together 10 people, and in a short time they found each other and developed a strong common energy.
This was certainly supported by the great premises and wonderful breakfasts together.
For me it was a special experience to walk from the hotel through Cologne at 4:30 in the morning and then to start the day together with the others.

I'm going to do some real advertising: Fancy a scientifically, in particular medically based, relaxed training, taking into account your specific possibilities and limitations, without ambition, whiners and "superperformers" on the neighbor's mat? Do you like pragmatic yoga in a very good atmosphere, a lot of laughter and without intrusive "spiritual background" - enlightenment? Do you expect a team of trainers who are constantly educating themselves, who offer a new aspect of current research in almost every class, and who make it clear that they have not reinvented the sport, but rather provide precise evidence of the role model from which they are "stealing and learning"?
In case of an inward nod or a simple yes to the above theses, I would recommend trying out the break room.
But beware: the experience could then turn out positive and lead to a desire for regular participation - and places are scarce! Thankfully, this is supported by an app in real time, so I can still always grab a spot in the 8:00 outdoor circuit training group in what feels like 0 degrees.
Did I mention that members can also access current training videos, experts from different disciplines are invited again and again to offer impulse workshops or regularly invited to healing fasting? Many trainings end with a final relaxation, in which warmed stones soothe neuralgic points on the body?
I wanted to make advertisement and there the message should fail concisely. This is now intentionally failed: 5 stars in all dimensions
at 51, this was my first ever fasting experience. I was accompanied with advice as well as products and customized gymnastics classes so that I felt taken care of during the whole time. My body and my psyche thank for this experience and come again
How to integrate movement, relaxation and self-care into stressful everyday life? I found the answer in the Cologne break room with Daniela Donike. I entered the break room via 1:1 coaching; starting from individual resources, solution-focused, empathetic and motivating, Dani accompanied me holistically - mentally, fitness, nutrition - to more balance personally and in life. After a few one-on-one sessions, the customized exercises that Dani draws from and recreates from an inexhaustible reservoir are in place, and self-motivation soars. I enjoy just as much the group trainings such as back break, yoga, fascia and outdoor training. Of particular note is Dani's thoughtful networking with other experts so that performance building, health and mindfulness go hand in hand. To get a taste, to deepen, to practice, her book "Donike Method. Gesundheitsbewusst trainieren" (BoD, 2022) is highly recommended.
The break room is my recreation area, because I can work on my fitness there in the morning and relax in the evening with fascia training or discover what mobility means with yoga. I feel well taken care of and individually advised, and I am always inspired by new topics and events that I would otherwise spend less time on. If you want more time for yourself, want to train in a personal environment and/or want to be professionally coached for your well-being, this is the place for you.

The most important thing is personal attention. During training, everyone can live their strengths and weaknesses. An improvement in physical fitness is quickly noticeable. Pain disappears. Physical feeling of well-being after the first training sessions. This motivates to continue.
Personal approach, very knowledgeable trainers and coaches, pleasant atmosphere indoors and outdoors, participants who take their physical needs seriously without being dogged athletes. It is always a pleasure.
