Absolutely in need of an overhaul!
After three visits, we've had enough.
High entrance fees for incomplete offers.
The most important thing: no importance is attached to guests SHOWERING (cleaning themselves) before using the bath/sauna, there are no notices or notices pointing this out. Nobody from the pool staff pays attention to this. +-90% of bathers get into the brine or bathing pool with their "everyday lard" (daily observations alternating with 3 people).
Imagine how many -natural- children's bottoms there can be. Toilet facilities are extremely RARE, absolutely inadequate for the number of guests. It is easy to suspect that some guests (especially children) choose the much more convenient route and empty their own fluids into the water basins.
However, the low noise level in the saltwater pool ONLY is a positive factor, even with many bathers. The normal swimming pool is filled with deafening noise when it is busy.
The brine water quality on the well-attended public holidays (end of 2023) was completely different from normal days in terms of smell and color.
You can see in many places that the Soltau-Therme shows clear signs of wear and tear over the years (especially in the brine area), e.g. the color of the ceilings is peeling off in many places, strange dark brown liquid drips from above onto the floor (especially in the entrance area of the graduation tower). The steam bath in the brine clearly shows dark stains on some parts of the walls. A short hose with ice-cold water is provided in the DB to disinfect the seating areas. How are you supposed to hand this over when the cabin is full of people? Seat mats would be a better solution. The warm outdoor pool - a former attraction of the saltwater pool - has been closed for a long time. We are given flimsy excuses such as: technical problems. Better translation: saving energy and costs are important.
We didn't visit the sauna area to avoid further disappointment.
The gastronomy leaves a lot to be desired, not only the unfriendliness of the staff is noticeable but also the food on offer. Bistro Marktplatz: Appetizing displays look very different and that over the end-of-year holidays. Therme Lounge: Delicious dishes? Tear open a plastic bag, pop it in the microwave, unimaginative dishes...bon appétit?
The main thing is to keep the cash registers ringing, the question is how long guests will put up with the shortcomings. There are now more modern saltwater pools in Lower Saxony with no/minimal negative effects - it's always worth investing a few extra kilometers, at least for us.
