At the age of 55 and with no previous experience in the industry, I was skeptical when I decided to train as a social media manager. However, thanks to the excellent support from the job center and the employment agency, as well as the opportunity to learn completely online and from home, I quickly found my feet. I was able to do the training flexibly part-time alongside my job at an advertising agency - from wherever and whenever I wanted. However, I must note that in some areas there was a lack of opportunity to discuss examples in the live sessions. Nevertheless, the input in the sessions was always of high quality and extremely informative. Guest lecturers in particular enriched and deepened specific topics.

Thanks to the advanced training, I now feel well equipped to shape my professional future in the field of social media marketing. My goal now is to set up my own social media marketing agency in the future. At the moment, however, I am opting for employment in order to fulfill certain obligations as a father, and at the same time I will build up my self-employment.

After six years of parental leave, I wanted to really get going again professionally. But I couldn't go back to my old job as a TV editor because I only wanted to work part-time and remotely. However, I wanted to continue writing texts, as that is my passion. Since I had a lot to do with social media in my private life as well as in my former job, I had decided to further my education to become a social media manager. This should ideally also be possible part-time and remotely, i.e. completely online, since my future job should also take place in the home office. Searching according to these criteria, I came across the continuing education program at Distart. The practical exercises were evaluated in detail by the lecturers and if you didn't do well, you had to revise them again. However, the learning effect was enormous. I now feel well positioned in social media marketing. The response to my applications has been very good.
