What we liked best—and what benefited the student the most—was the one-on-one instruction in the familiar setting of her own home. Rescheduling appointments at short notice due to unforeseen circumstances was no problem at all.
The teacher was very empathetic and made the lessons exciting and lively with his approach. The little jokes thrown in here and there also lightened the mood and helped maintain concentration.
At first glance, the cost seems quite high, but it quickly pays for itself because we “don’t have to travel” and the lessons are 90-minute one-on-one sessions.
We highly recommend ABACUS and would like to express our sincere thanks for the dedication of “our” teacher.

The "chemistry" between the tutor and the student was just right.
It was really great that the tutor and student could easily adjust their schedule directly with each other (sometimes more sessions before tests, sometimes fewer or skipping sessions due to illness or canceled classes).

We enrolled our daughter, who is in her senior year of high school, in the ABACUS math tutoring program. The consultation with Mr. Bertl was very friendly, and my daughter’s needs were carefully taken into account. Within three months, the tutor managed to improve our daughter’s math grade by 5 points, which ultimately helped her pass her high school graduation exam. We are completely satisfied, and I would choose ABACUS again in a heartbeat—especially when time is tight.

Our daughter was struggling with math. While doing some research, I came across Abacus’s tutoring website. After a quick conversation, we were assigned a wonderful tutor. She got along great with our daughter and was a huge help. She started by doing math exercises with our daughter in a playful way and then moved on to a more serious approach. I would actually like to recommend Abacus. But because of Abacus’s lack of customer focus, I can’t. In short, they handle other people’s money carelessly and thoughtlessly. The first tutor was great and helped a lot. Things went smoothly for over a year. Then the teacher resigned, which we were unfortunately only told a few lessons before it happened. Since our child is on the autism spectrum, she has a very hard time adjusting to changes, and she also has issues with older male adults. However, Abacus only offered us a new, older teacher. No alternatives. For this reason, we terminated our contract with Abacus immediately. We still had 7 lessons remaining, and no agreement could be reached with Abacus except that the 7 lessons would be taught by the new teacher or we would forgo them—but we wouldn’t get any money back either. So, after much persuasion, we and our child decided to give the new teacher a chance. However, he sometimes didn’t show up at all, or arrived too late or too early, so we terminated the arrangement after the fourth lesson. We paid for 3 lessons that were never taught. Abacus showed absolutely no customer focus here—no apology, no willingness to accommodate, and they were happy to pocket the money. Therefore, our conclusion: the first teacher was great, the second was a flop, and customer service was also a flop; for this reason, we do not recommend them.
