EU Driver’s Licenses and MPU
Many clients turn to us after the driver’s license authority has ordered an MPU or their German driver’s license has been revoked. We review each client’s individual situation and advise on the available legal options. This also includes determining the conditions under which a driver’s license obtained in another EU member state will be recognized in Germany.
Under certain conditions, an EU driver’s license may also be relevant for individuals facing an MPU in Germany. In particular, the requirements under European law, existing suspension periods, and the conditions for recognition in Germany must be taken into account.
EU Driver’s License from the Czech Republic
Another focus of our practice concerns EU driver’s licenses from the Czech Republic. We provide advice on legal issues related to the Czech EU driver’s license, as well as its recognition and use in Germany.
In addition, we assist clients with renewing a Czech EU driver’s license and review the necessary requirements and documentation for this process.
MPU Order and Driver’s License Revocation
If an MPU has been ordered, the first step is to determine the legal basis on which the driver’s license authority is requiring the assessment. This applies in particular following alcohol- or drug-related offenses, traffic violations, and other concerns regarding fitness to drive.
Even in the event of a driver’s license revocation, we advise on the options for reinstatement of the license and on the further requirements under driver’s license law.
Medical Cannabis and Driver’s Licenses
Issues related to medically prescribed cannabis are also playing an increasingly significant role in driver’s license law. We advise cannabis patients, particularly in cases of an MPU order, a request for a medical evaluation, or other measures taken by the driver’s license authority.
MPU Following Alcohol Use While Cycling
Riding a bicycle while intoxicated can also have significant implications for your driver’s license. Under certain circumstances, the driver’s license authority may question your fitness to drive and require further evidence. We review such orders and advise you on your legal options.
