Uli Funke, founder of the Academy for Applied Neuroscience (A|F|A|N) and holder of a Master’s degree in Cognitive Neuroscience (aon), is a speaker, entrepreneur, and author. He is the program director and lecturer at the Institute for Communication and Leadership (ikf) in Lucerne, where he leads the CAS program “Leadership & Neuroscience.” He serves on the advisory board of the BDVT (Association for Training, Consulting, and Coaching), of which he was vice president for two years; he is a certified wingwave coach, an Eigenland© consultant, a trained facilitator for the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method and materials, and a member of the German Speakers Association and the German Association of Trade Journalists.
With BRAIN FOR BUSINESS®, he has developed a scientifically grounded continuing education program that teaches entrepreneurs and other executives the most important aspects of neuroscience for their work and helps them apply this knowledge. The program is simple, flexible, and designed to be brain-friendly.
Together with Prof. Dr. Bruno Haller, he developed the 5iol Test, which quantifies the impact of leadership across five dimensions, and the NEURO IMPACT COACH®, a continuing education program for coaches, consultants, and executives who want to prove—rather than merely assume—the impact of their work. Their joint book, *The Leadership Impact Code: The Secret to Effective Leadership*, emerged from this work.
More than 20 years as a radio journalist—including 12 years as an editor-in-chief—along with over a decade of experience as an entrepreneur, form the foundation for his current work as a speaker and leadership developer. He has been an entrepreneur since 2010 and heads AFAN Solutions GmbH.
Uli Funke maintains direct ties to the academic community. During his master’s program, he gained in-depth, firsthand knowledge from neuroscientists such as Prof. Dr. Dr. Gerhard Roth, Prof. Dr. Tobias Esch, Prof. John Dylan Haynes, Prof. Dr. Christian Büchel, and Dr. Martin Meyer.

The videos are great to listen to and the guiding questions provide further perspectives. I only "discovered" the Brainbot during Chapter 9, but I think it's great for questioning your own thoughts. That's definitely another added value. I think that by planning to work in groups, you also fulfill the point of "real exchange," which I found somewhat lacking, although I was happy to be able to learn at my own pace.
