For over 40 years, fear of heights and claustrophobia have caused me pure stress in everyday situations such as riding in an elevator or looking down from a balcony. Even at comparatively low heights, I experience intense feelings of anxiety: dizziness, a racing heart, trembling and panic attacks. The fear of losing control at heights also played a major role. So far, I have avoided places such as viewpoints, high buildings or bridges - even when there was no objective danger.
I am also afraid of confined, closed or difficult to access spaces. Typical triggers for me are elevators, subways, tunnels or crowded rooms. The symptoms of my claustrophobia are similar to those of my fear of heights, so I have tried to avoid certain situations altogether. Of course, this reduces the quality of life - especially if you like traveling as much as I do.
At night, I was always plagued by the same nightmare: I take an elevator up to a viewing platform at a dizzying height. Everything twists and turns here. When I make it back into the elevator, it plummets down in a free fall and I wake up drenched in sweat.
Then I discovered Rüdiger Grebe and his hypnotherapy - a method that uses access to the subconscious mind to change stressful thought and behavior patterns. During hypnosis, I was in a state of deep relaxation, but remained conscious and responsive at all times. In this state, the brain is particularly receptive to new, positive suggestions.
A few weeks after the first session (at the end of January), I already felt a clear improvement: I no longer perceived anxiety-inducing situations as threatening, but was increasingly able to experience them in a neutral or even positive way. After initial "exercises" on the Biggeblick, on a treetop walk on the Panarbora nature experience trail and on a helicopter flight, I have now even taken the elevator to the viewing platform of the Rhine Tower (168 meters high) for the first time. Each experience in itself was a special challenge that inspired me to keep going and to dare to do more step by step.
In my experience, hypnosis offers an effective, gentle and sustainable way of dissolving fears and gaining new freedom. Those who embrace it often experience not only overcoming their fears, but also a new sense of inner strength and quality of life. I can really recommend hypnotherapy and Rüdiger Grebe without reservation... Thank you for EVERYTHING 🙏
