Understanding people—both oneself and others—is an essential skill for leaders and entrepreneurs. Those who understand the principles and mechanisms of the “brain system” can more consciously influence their own decisions and those of others....
These mechanisms are usually buried deep in the unconscious and are inaccessible to the conscious mind.
Greater self-awareness and better self-regulation have a direct impact on leadership effectiveness. When these insights are put into practice, they lead to greater impact and less pressure.
Whether live on stage, in a hybrid setting, or online: Uli Funke demonstrates which mechanisms and systems guide us and how we can consciously influence them. He conveys knowledge in an engaging way and motivates his audience to view perception and decision-making processes with a fresh perspective in the future.
Uli Funke, founder of the Academy for Applied Neuroscience (A|F|A|N) and holder of a Master’s degree in Cognitive Neuroscience (aon), is a speaker, entrepreneur, and author. He is the program director and lecturer at the Institute for Communication and Leadership (ikf) in Lucerne, where he leads the CAS program “Leadership & Neuroscience.” He serves on the advisory board of the BDVT (Association for Training, Consulting, and Coaching), of which he was vice president for two years; he is a certified wingwave coach, an Eigenland© consultant, a trained facilitator for the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method and materials, and a member of the German Speakers Association and the German Association of Trade Journalists.
With BRAIN FOR BUSINESS®, he has developed a scientifically grounded continuing education program that teaches entrepreneurs and other executives the most important aspects of neuroscience for their work and helps them apply this knowledge. The program is simple, flexible, and designed to be brain-friendly.
Together with Prof. Dr. Bruno Haller, he developed the 5iol Test, which quantifies the impact of leadership across five dimensions, and the NEURO IMPACT COACH®, a continuing education program for coaches, consultants, and executives who want to prove—rather than merely assume—the impact of their work. Their joint book, *The Leadership Impact Code: The Secret to Effective Leadership*, emerged from this work.
More than 20 years as a radio journalist—including 12 years as an editor-in-chief—along with over a decade of experience as an entrepreneur, form the foundation for his current work as a speaker and leadership developer. He has been an entrepreneur since 2010 and heads AFAN Solutions GmbH.
Uli Funke maintains direct ties to the academic community. During his master’s program, he gained in-depth, firsthand knowledge from neuroscientists such as Prof. Dr. Dr. Gerhard Roth, Prof. Dr. Tobias Esch, Prof. John Dylan Haynes, Prof. Dr. Christian Büchel, and Dr. Martin Meyer.

I've been around for quite a few years now and have had the opportunity to lead and observe many people, yet you've given me an even deeper insight into why employees react the way they do in certain situations. Thank you so much for that!!!

With his down-to-earth East Westphalian manner, Uli manages to present even complex neuroscientific topics in an interesting and understandable way. His slides are very professional, and the technical execution of the presentation is also highly recommended for other webinars or online training sessions. I can wholeheartedly recommend Uli Funke.

A highly experienced speaker—an expert on the topic—who answers spontaneous questions in a friendly and respectful manner—engages with audience questions and comments: “This question deserves some longer, more in-depth thought”—slides are top-notch—especially good: a video to help better understand our brain and “neuroscience”—explains things clearly and doesn’t feel the need to show off with complicated language—just really likable!!

The CAS Brain Power for Business course is highly recommended, primarily for my own personal development and growth, but also for my work environment. It is very helpful to learn and understand how our brains and we as humans function, and how I can use this knowledge to develop my potential in a targeted manner.

The videos are great to listen to and the guiding questions provide further perspectives. I only "discovered" the Brainbot during Chapter 9, but I think it's great for questioning your own thoughts. That's definitely another added value. I think that by planning to work in groups, you also fulfill the point of "real exchange," which I found somewhat lacking, although I was happy to be able to learn at my own pace.

Dear Uli, the CAS Brain Power for Business course was technically sound, clearly structured, and practical. The clear connection between neurobiological principles and leadership, decision-making, and motivation in an organizational context was particularly valuable. The content not only confirmed my leadership practices, but also sharpened them and triggered targeted reflection. Overall, a very effective and relevant course. I look forward to further professional exchanges and inspiration. Best regards, Danièle
