My Review of My Implant Journey and First Visit to Dentakay Antalya
It all started with the online consultation through WhatsApp. At first, I thought that was a bit unusual, but it worked really well. I sent pictures as requested, following the guide they provided, and was assigned a consultant called Blessy. I can honestly say I can’t fault her communication throughout the whole process. Anytime I had questions, she responded quickly and nothing was too much trouble. This continued for months before and even after my first visit.
Next, I had a telephone call to go through the treatment they thought I’d need and the pricing. Of course, this was only an estimate as the exact treatment and cost would depend on my X-rays and 3D scan once I arrived.
Arrival in Antalya
The day before I flew, the planning team confirmed all my details and sent contact numbers. On landing, I was messaged again to let me know my driver was waiting. The transfer was faultless — the driver even gave me bottled water. I was taken straight to the hotel, checked in, and told to relax before being collected the next day for the clinic.
First Day at the Clinic
I was greeted at reception, asked for ID, and offered refreshments. After X-rays and a 3D scan, a consultant Ibrahim explained everything clearly in “normal” language, which immediately put me at ease. The whole experience was warm, friendly, and professional — especially impressive given I really don’t like going to the dentist.
I then met with Ibrahim, who went through treatment options and implant types. At no point did I feel pressured into choosing the more expensive option — it was my choice to go higher. Ibrahim then asked if I wanted to go ahead the same day (if the doctor was available) or wait until the next. I chose the same day, went back to the hotel to rest, and returned later in the afternoon.
The Procedure
I did have to wait about an hour before the doctor was ready, but that didn’t bother me — I’ve waited longer at my local GP! I was given a local anaesthetic, the procedure was explained, and to be honest, I was nervous. But I felt no pain at all during the whole process and was shocked when the doctor said, “That’s it, all done.” After horror stories I’d read online, I couldn’t believe how smooth it was.
The doctor shook my hand and told me he’d see me in 3 months for the final visit. Afterwards, I had another X-ray, arranged my return visit, and was given ice packs, painkillers, and antibiotics (just a few pounds extra at the pharmacy). Then I was dropped back to my hotel with recovery instructions.
Recovery So Far
I’m writing this 3 days after surgery, before flying home. I had 2 teeth removed and 6 implants placed — including 2 nasal implants (placed diagonally, avoiding a sinus lift and cutting recovery time from 6 months to 3). I have some swelling, but not much considering what was done. The pain is basically non-existent, just some irritation from all the tools in my mouth 🤣. The swelling has already started to go down.
Final Thoughts (Part 1)
From start to finish, I felt well looked after. Communication was excellent. The clinic was spotless, modern, and state-of-the-art. Everyone — Blessy, Ibrahim, the doctors, reception, nurses, and drivers — was brilliant. The hotel (Falcon) was also excellent.
I spoke to other patients who had surgery the same time as me, and they all said the same — very little pain and a smooth experience. Of course, everyone is different, but this was mine. As someone who’s had a lifelong fear of dentists (which is probably why my teeth were in such a bad state), I couldn’t have asked for better.
I’m now looking forward to my final visit — so wait for Part 2 of my review. Hopefully this helps anyone waiting for their turn. Good luck 👍🏼
