There are a lot of ways to take a family photo. Most of them involve some version of “stand here, smile at me, try to get the kids to cooperate, hope for the best.”
That is not what I do. ...My work is built around something simpler and, in a way, more ambitious. I create an experience where families can actually enjoy being together, and the photographs are a natural result of that. Not forced. Not performed. Not something you have to manage or survive.
I’m a photographer based in Lincoln, Massachusetts, working with families, professionals, and individuals who want images that feel like them. My sessions take place on a private, 12th generation family farm just outside Boston, or at meaningful locations chosen with my clients. The farm is a big part of what makes this experience different. Open fields, tall grass, old barns, tractors, and a small herd of alpacas create a setting that feels more like a slow afternoon than a photo shoot.
For families, this matters more than people expect. Kids are not asked to behave a certain way or perform for the camera. They get to explore, move, laugh, be curious, and sometimes be a little chaotic. Parents are not asked to manage every moment or keep things perfectly on track. The structure is there when needed, but the goal is to create space for real interaction.
That is where the best photos come from.
Instead of chasing perfect smiles, I pay attention to connection. The way a child leans into a parent. The way someone laughs when they forget they are being photographed. The quiet moments between the bigger ones. These are the images that tend to matter more over time. Not because they are technically perfect, but because they feel true.
For professionals, headshots and branding sessions follow a similar philosophy. The goal is not just to create a polished image, but one that feels natural, confident, and aligned with how you want to show up in your work. Many people come in feeling a little unsure about being photographed. That is normal. My job is to make the process feel easy, collaborative, and even enjoyable so that what comes through in the images is not stiffness, but clarity and presence.
What I offer goes beyond the session itself.
Every client starts with a conversation. I want to understand what matters to you, what you are hoping for, and how you tend to feel in front of a camera. From there, I guide you through planning, including timing, location, and outfits if you want help with that. You will receive a detailed prep guide and have the option of a consultation so that nothing feels uncertain going into the session.
The sessions themselves are intentionally flexible. There is no strict clock watching. We move at a pace that works for you, especially when kids are involved. If something is working, we stay with it. If it is not, we shift. The goal is not to get through a checklist, but to create an experience that feels good while we are in it.
After the session, I curate and edit the images to tell a cohesive story. Rather than dropping a large gallery on you all at once, I create a slideshow set to music that highlights the strongest images from your session. This is designed to be a moment you can actually sit with, rather than something you scroll through quickly on your phone.
From there, you choose a collection that includes digital images and a print credit. You will have access to an online gallery where you can download your images and order prints, albums, and wall art. The system is designed to be simple and supportive, with guidance available if you want help deciding what to do with your photos.
Because the end goal is not just to have images sitting on a hard drive.
It is to have something tangible in your home. Something your kids see every day. Something that reminds you, in the middle of everything else, what your life actually feels like right now.
What makes my work different is not just the farm, or the process, or the final products. It is the way all of those pieces are built around a single idea.
You do not need to become a different version of yourself to have meaningful photos.
You do not need perfectly behaved kids, perfect outfits, or a perfectly calm day. You do not need to perform or prove anything. The connection that already exists in your family is enough.
My role is to create the conditions where that connection can show up naturally, and then to notice it when it does.
The result is a set of images that feel less like a record of what you looked like, and more like a reflection of what it felt like to be there together.
