Preparation:
After a detailed consultation with Dr. Dunda, it still took me about half a year to decide to have the breast reduction. So there was another consultation, during which Dr. Dunda again explained to me in detail about the advantages, disadvantages, possible risks, different options for breast lift/breast reduction (with mesh or without). In the end, I opted for breast reduction without mesh.
The surgery:
The surgery took place in Steglitz. My breasts were reduced by about a third (from cup E/F to a good C cup). It has now been half a year since the operation. The day itself has remained in my good memory: I was received in a friendly manner, the anesthesiologist talked to me again before the surgery (although we had already done the educational talk by phone). He put an IV in me and then I was able to go into the surgical area. Once I was lying down, I was "put to sleep" pretty quickly. It was great that I didn't have to wait long because I was very nervous.
The overnight stay after surgery was professionally managed, even though I was the only patient in the clinic that night. I was not in much pain at any point. Immediately after the surgery I was a little nauseous, which the nurse gave me a medication that helped quickly. The nurse kept checking on me throughout the evening and night, asking if I needed assistance going to the bathroom or pain medication. My visit was very kindly received. The day after the surgery, Dr. Dunda pulled out the drains, which was almost painless, changed the bandages and I was ready to be picked up. For the first 14 days I had to lie/sleep on my back, which I found uncomfortable and exhausting because you automatically want to turn while sleeping.
The result and the time afterwards:
Are there any scars? Yes (T-cut), but they are very fine lines. The nipples were moved and there are also fine lines around the nipples. The result is visually/aesthetically perfect. I am so happy to have made the decision. During the healing phase, I was often worried that the breasts would become asymmetrical size-wise, but that was due to the different healing process (of the breasts). Sometimes one breast was more swollen, then the other. In the end, everything is now nicely symmetrical and the breasts have a natural shape. I am really thrilled and can even wear underwire bras without any problems. Just great. I had asked relatively early after the surgery how I should care for the scars. Dr. Dunda said that I should not use any expensive creams and especially no scar gel, baby oil would be completely sufficient and he was right. Everything healed super with it. I massaged the scars with baby oil every evening after they healed so that they became nice and soft and the result is great.
Dr. Dunda was always available (we emailed) when I had questions or needed advice, I would have even had his home phone number for emergencies.
There were two follow-up appointments that were just as friendly and professional. Only (really only!) downside is that the nipples and lower areas of the breast (above the scars) are still relatively numb/numb, though this has already changed/improved slightly in the last month, so I have hope that it will get even better with time. However, I knew beforehand that this could happen because it was addressed in the educational interview. So it is not anyone's fault.
The cost of my surgery was 6,290 €. Bandages and compression bra were included.
Conclusion:
I would like to thank Dr. Dunda and his team for the excellent care and wonderful result. I would have the surgery with him again at any time. Many greetings from a very satisfied patient.
