I really wanted to have a cheap hair transplant for my receding hairline. For this reason, I chose a doctor in Turkey.
From hearsay, many people who have had their hair done in Turkey have come back satisfied. However, I am a very skeptical person by nature.
Then on the Internet I came across Elithair because of the numerous positive reviews.
SPOILER: These positive reviews are real reviews!!! On the last day after the follow-up, the staff asked us to submit a review. We were provided with the QR code and out of nowhere we were supposed to submit our review within a very short time. Therefore, there are many reviews that are very brief.
I can also personally confirm that everyone there was very satisfied!
But back to the registration... One advertises on the website with an immediate price offer, whereby I then had to find out - as is also common with many other providers - that you had to fill out an extensive form, shoot photos of your head and send them, as well as wait for an initial phone call, to then receive the offer by telephone.
I was informed that this offer was "individually tailored to me and would only be available for a limited time". The telephone call can be set beforehand by means of an appointment. While I was waiting for the phone call, I received numerous e-mails that were not individually tailored to me.
During the phone call, they recommended the DHI method, whereupon I requested a cost breakdown of the individual items as well as before/after pictures. Even after the telephone call, I continued to receive e-mails that were not tailored to me, i.e. so-called "sample e-mails". After I clicked on "View invoice", I received an appointment confirmation and then a down payment invoice in further sample emails, although I only wanted to view a cost breakdown of the invoice.
After I complained in writing about the disorganized incidents and about the service, they immediately called me back and asked for an apology. As a result, I finally received the before/after pictures. The poor organization paid off for me, as they provided me with a cost breakdown for the FUE method instead of the DHI method, which was significantly cheaper.
I was suddenly always called immediately and my concerns were listened to sympathetically. In the end I decided on the DHI method 2,200 grafts for 2,350.00 € + 100.00 € for an accompanying person + flight. For this decision, however, I needed 2 months, because I inquired with many other providers and had to inform myself about a HT in general.
Now an appointment for the HT was made by phone, which one received as an e-mail to the knowledge. After that one had to book the flight tickets and send them back also as confirmation for the appointment proposal by e-mails. Afterwards a deposit i.H.v. 400,00 € is to be carried out and a further form to be filled out.
Thereupon one received an extremely understandable schedule. Finally, a package was sent home, where one had to massage oneself with a serum 7 days and 1 day before the surgery to support a smooth course of the HT.
Also in the last days contact was made on the part of Elithair to clarify everything possible.
1 day before departure still the PCR test and the online form (Corona conditional) for entry into Turkey filled.
In Turkey:
1, day: (05.10.2021).
The driver was already waiting at the airport as discussed.
Contrary to the schedule, however, the driver stood outside instead of at the reception inside the airport, as this reception had apparently ceased to exist.
An interpreter was not available. However, one could have requested this by phone from the driver.
We were taken directly to the clinic with the other patients by shuttle bus.
The traffic in Turkey... Everyone drives as he wants! Whoever has the loudest horn wins!
Blood was taken (Aids test) and the PCR test for the return journey was done.
Afterwards I came into an office where I met the interpreter for the first time.
Here the procedure was explained to me again in fast forward. I was given a bag with care products. Afterwards I had to sign some consents.
Uncharacteristically, I had the preliminary interview the same evening.
Even more uncharacteristically, Dr. Bawli performed it himself.
(I was an exception, because other patients had the consultation with another doctor).
He then drew the hairlines for me. Since I was not satisfied with his suggestion, he made the lowest possible hairline at my request.
Here the number of grafts was increased, which I have also experienced from other patients.
Mr. Bawli is really an extremely sympathetic person. It was an honor to meet him personally.
Finally, we went for a shave with photos and then the balance was paid.
Last but not least, I was driven to the 4-star Hotel Kaya, which was about 10 km away from the clinic. (Other patients were taken directly to the hotel opposite!).
I had forgotten my Bawli bag with the care products in the clinic. The driver connected me with the clinic by phone, and I was then provided with a new bag the next day.
Dinner was at the hotel. One had to order a la cart.
Since the prices were very low, the food had a solid price-performance ratio.
Day 2:
I had to be on the mat already at 5:15 am. Therefore, breakfast at the hotel was cancelled.
(There were also patients who had your treatment only at 4 pm!).
We were again picked up on time by the driver.
Once we arrived at the clinic, everything went pretty quickly.
The injections for anesthesia were very uncomfortable, sometimes even painful.
Then all the grafts were taken from the donor area in the prone position.
Dr. Balwi came in briefly and greeted me while stroking my back.
Since my circulation had collapsed during the surgery, I had been given a saline solution. (Apparently I was not the only one!) After that I felt very well again.
I skipped breakfast, so the grafts were immediately implanted into my recipient area in the supine position.
At the end, the anesthesia wore off a bit. After a short message to the doctor, he anesthetized again briefly.
Since I did without breakfast, there was a large lunch menu after the surgery in the clinic.
Since the surgery lasted only 6 ½ hours with me. I had from 12 o'clock quasi free time.
Against the advice of the doctors on bed rest I have looked around a bit in the area.
Dinner was again in the hotel. This time there was a big buffet, which tasted good.
For the next 5 nights I had to sleep with a neck pillow on my back to protect the receiver area.
Day 3:
Finally breakfast at the hotel. Again, the selection was huge.
We were picked up again by the driver.
The follow-up examination took place, which was performed by another doctor under the supervision of an interpreter.
However, a first hair shower was not performed.
We were informed in detail about the further procedure.
Evaluation:
I cannot say anything about the result at the moment.
At the moment everything looks pretty tight and good.
Elithair has significantly increased prices. There are now many other clinics that offer significantly cheaper. Nevertheless, the price-performance ratio is definitely right!
Germany can take a leaf out of Turkey's book when it comes to organization.
However, the schedule that we received in advance was outdated in some places.
Therefore, the processes were constantly reorganized, but this was always done smoothly.
There were no waiting times. That's what I call structured work!
I was always taken care of at all times.
On request, an interpreter would have been consulted at any time.
However, it is advantageous if one can speak some English, since the majority of the staff also speaks English.
Notes after the surgery:
It should be noted that one should temporarily abstain from many lifestyle habits.
For example, you should not style your hair for 6 months, not do any sports for 6 weeks, not go to the solarium for 6 weeks, not drink alcohol for 3 days and much much more!
You should also do some shopping in advance.
Lots of kitchen roll to dry after the special hair washes, 3l of water per day to drink, aloe vera for the scalp against dryness and itching, vitamins such as biotin, shampoos that take place after the special hair washes, etc.
