I agree that it might make sense to adjust certain security settings on virtual servers from the start to minimize potential risks and reduce administrative overhead. However, we face a challenge here: Many of our customers are still new to server administration. If we were to change the default SSH port, for example, users would first have to familiarize themselves with finding the new port, get to grips with the sudo system or understand key authentication. This could lead to confusion, especially if teaching materials continue to refer to port 22, which we do not use. This can lead to frustration and (if they get in touch at all) unnecessary support requests.

However, your suggestion is very valuable and we are taking it seriously. We are considering whether we could offer the option to customize security settings during server creation in the future. This would both increase security and gradually introduce our users to advanced management options.

I'm sorry to hear that you had difficulties. However, I can see a lot between the lines in your message. Apparently your server got stuck with the guest tools after ordering and asked you to run a line via SSH to complete the installation. That's what we write there. The password is in the web interface and is definitely correct, because technically there is no other way. But all good, you don't seem to have much experience with a server yet, because under Linux the user name is always "root" and under Windows it would be "Administrator". Please get in touch with us so that we can help you. It's a matter of less than 2 minutes. We have not yet received a ticket from you.

It's a shame that you're not showing any insight here. You have chosen this server as one of thousands and the price was obviously a big point on your list. That's fine, but a dedicated server with an Intel processor from 2011 for around €50-60 gross per month including unlimited data traffic cannot be expected to outperform a modern Ryzen processor. Of course, this is not the case.

Unfortunately, it is very annoying that your server was not extended due to non-payment and was therefore deleted. Unlike our virtual servers, there is no 7-day deletion period for dedicated servers. However, we write this in so many places that the notice can no longer be overlooked. So please don't blame your own failure in this respect on the reliability of our system - that would be extremely unfair.

It is also a pity that you think our vServers are outdated and have a "miserable" CPU. All host systems are operated on a state-of-the-art server infrastructure. We only use AMD EPYC processors such as 7543 and 7763 with NVMe SSD and DDR4 ECC memory. We have invested so much in our server modernization in the last 2 years that I cannot understand your statement.

Note: Dear interested parties who are looking for negative reviews to get a better picture: Please use our test servers for a first impression. At the end of the day, it's not what we write in our advertising or our customers (whether satisfied or dissatisfied) that counts, but how our servers and functions suit you. Test us and form your own opinion. We convince through performance.
