Dear Stattreisen team,
First of all, thank you very much for organizing the tour so quickly. I thought it was amazing in just a few days. Thank you! Jens was also super (!) nice and really knew a lot about the neighborhood. He presented it with so much enthusiasm that even residents and passers-by stopped and listened. He showed us very secluded corners and knew something exciting to say about every house. However, there was one small but. I had actually wanted to book the St. Pauli tour in advance with regard to gentrification. Mr. Leder told me that the Schanzenviertel was much better suited to this. And we had already covered this neighborhood in class. So it was a perfect fit. During the tour, however, Jens often explained in detail why there is NO gentrification in the district - due to the high proportion of apartments in municipal ownership. This is of course true, but gentrification is clearly taking place in the Schanze (displacement of old stores etc.). The SuS also noticed this contradiction. However, nobody wanted to contradict Jens. The tour was very interesting, especially for me, but with regard to the actual topic of gentrification it was not very useful for the LK.
