For some time now, so-called fitness youtubers have been springing up like mushrooms.
These are guys and gals who have trained or dieted for a few months and then offer training and nutrition plans for download. In addition, there are numerous links under the videos to nutritional supplement stores, various MLM offers, penis extensions etc.
Also occasionally competition athletes mingle with these "experts" who are full of anabolic steroids up to the neck and want to lead Lieschen Müller to the dream figure!
There are also a few exceptions who try to make a serious offer. I estimate the proportion of these people, who combine experience and competence, didactic ability and above all psychological skill, at less than 3 percent.
What do I need experience for?
If I have trained myself for a few months and something has happened to my body, that does not mean that it is generally valid. Especially fitness, muscle building and fat loss are very individual disciplines, which are determined by factors such as genetics, nutrition, etc..
What do I need competence for?
If I "prescribe" exercise and nutrition to strangers, I must be aware that this is tantamount to administering drugs that have a short-, medium- and long-term effect on health!
It should be clear to everyone that this requires a sound knowledge of nutrition and training theory, anatomy, etc.!
I am sure that the vast majority of fitness youtubers are not aware that they play frivolously with the highest good of man.
They are stars on their channel, pump themselves up and hope for the quick money!
The idea of providing a service to people, yaaa...that's what a service is all about...:))
is almost always lost between self-promotion and product sales.
Why do I need pedagogical skills and psychological empathy?
If I look at the exercise instructions for fitness exercises on Youtube, then almost always, before it comes, if at all to the "correct" execution, 2 or 3 error variants are vorgeturnt!
So the athlete goes to the gym with several versions of an exercise execution in their head and will pull together a half-baked mix of techniques from memory.
The more complex the exercise, the more dangerous it is for the musculoskeletal system!
Showing mistakes is pedagogical bullshit and does not take into account the responsible task of coaching in any form.
Here we are still at the absolute basics of fitness coaching!
For whom is an exercise suitable at all, for whom is it not suitable due to health problems (e.g. high blood pressure, scoliosis...)?
What is the alternative?
Does an exercise have to be modified due to anatomical peculiarities (e.g. very long upper body) of the athlete in order to minimize joint stress?
What does the athlete want to achieve with the exercise?
Example squat: The bodybuilder ideally performs the squat with a relatively upright upper body in order to optimally load the thigh muscles.
The strength athlete will choose a variation that tilts the upper body further forward, allowing him to move heavier weight.
Are there possibly several correct variations of execution and what do they look like?
Does the athlete even have the basic requirements to perform the exercise e.g. enough grip strength, sufficiently strong trunk muscles, sufficient mobility in the joint positions to allow a safe and effective amplitude of movement?
Well, there is no time for such banalities in the short video!
Download-ready training and nutrition plans cannot do justice to the individual component of the human being and are therefore a waste of money, and in many cases can be hazardous to health.
In the best case they are not optimal and therefore the price-performance ratio is not right.
One last important point, perhaps the most important, is the psychological empathy of a fitness coach!
People who really want to achieve something must be led to more or less many CHANGES IN BEHAVIOR.
To do this, you need tools that access the mind of the athlete.
This can be learned in the basic techniques in the seminar, but the practical implementation is a matter of many years of experience in dealing with the most diverse types of people from the phlegmatic to the self-destructive!
Someone who has only coached highly motivated athletes is not necessarily the best coach for a mother of two with a part-time job and great self-esteem doubts!
Fitness and figure projects are medium and long-term affairs that rarely work without communication between coach and athlete.
The one-sided "interaction" of downloading a 0815 coaching program and the Paypal-Überweisug is not enough!
What does a serious online fitness coaching look like?
In a Skype / telephone appointment, a first personal level is established!
The collection of the personal initial situation of the customer is accomplished on the basis of an interview or a questionnaire about the state of health, the current exercise and nutrition habits, as well as the time budget for training.
All of the questions that fitness clients repeatedly ask me can only be answered professionally with knowledge of the individual's status quo.
This is especially true in the area of nutrition, which plays by far the biggest role in figure success!
There is nothing against recommending nutritional supplements to people, but....
which make sense, how much of it, when and how???
As the word food supplement already says, it must be determined on the basis of a nourishing protocol whether there is something to supplement and if yes, what and how much!
A management consultant will also not drive around haphazardly without analyzing the key figures in a company!
What does an effective cooperation between coach and customer look like?
The training plan is created on the basis of the health questionnaire!
The diet is logged via app or on the PC and saved in an account that the coach can access.
Over 4 weeks, the coach accompanies the diet with suggestions for optimizing the quantity and quality of the food consumed and thus leads the customer to a new habit.
The writing of time-limited diet plans is rarely purposeful except for athletes in competition preparation, because the "normal person" at some point no longer makes the program, stands there without a new consolidated habit and falls back into old patterns and then soon faces the next investment in a great "20kg away in 6 weeks" plan.
Why not invest in a new habit that combines goal achievement and quality of life?
Stinginess is not always cool, because on closer inspection it is not stinginess, but a very expensive, frustrating waste of time and money!
Many customers who end up with me have already made the following investments:
- Unused monthly fees at the fitness discounter or "support studio" without support.
- Use of expensive ineffective Fatburner preparations/slimness teas, Detox smoothies....
- Purchase of books, Cd's etc. with 0815 programs....
These are often easily several hundred euros!
There is the saying that a healthy mind rests in a healthy body...so I try to help but a very healthy fitness professional mind to achieve a healthy and attractive body.
Train at the discount store, coaching from a professional: I would call that smart!
Conclusion: Online fitness coaching can be a very good thing, if it is well-founded and individually designed!
Who invests in 0815 programs for download, pays homage to the mainstream media, gets what he deserves!
If you are looking for coaches, let them show you real references and not before-and-after pictures with belly stretched out and pulled in with different exposure, "transformations" that were supposedly achieved only with nutrition and training...

Hello, I myself am a coach, personal and fitness trainer, run a small hypnosis practice in Bad Reichenhall and do the fitness / weight training since the age of 16. Experience has shown, even if you know yourself and are from the subject, you lose sight of many things over the many years or is also controlled by media / advertising / You Tube through suggestions.
