I'm actually fine, I'm sporty and just wanted to have a check-up to see why I always get calf cramps when I run marathons. I came to Dr. Stracke's predecessor on the recommendation of an orthopaedist and then to Dr. Stracke shortly afterwards.
Through him I understood how my diet really works, what deficiencies I have that I didn't consciously notice in everyday life.
The first lab results of my blood in his practice were sometimes worrying. What made me personally almost angry was not the results themselves, but the fact that I had also had a blood test done by my GP shortly beforehand. Everything was fine except for some iron deficiency. And the iron tablets I had swallowed en masse had apparently had no effect at all.
Dr. Stracke took a lot of time to evaluate the results with me and then I gradually began to reduce all the deficiencies.
What I found particularly inspiring were the conversations at eye level. I am neither a doctor nor a biologist, but I was able to follow all the explanations and understand the connections.
A year ago, Dr. Stracke also began to talk to me more and more about nutrition, especially for people who do sport. As I mainly do endurance sports myself, I was naturally interested in optimizing my diet. So I got to know the ketogenic diet and followed it strictly for 3 months. The results were indeed overwhelming. 20 km runs on an empty stomach: no problem. Normally I needed at least some carbohydrates after 18 km, otherwise "the man with the hammer" would come. Not now. In addition, I was incredibly alert, full of zest for life and able to concentrate even on stressful days after little sleep.
My big toe joints are - for whatever reason - quite painful due to osteoarthritis. I can walk with them, but I always notice them. Suddenly, during a run, I realized that I hardly noticed anything. Consultation with Dr. Stracke: Yes, joint pain and general inflammation in the body is subsiding.
I am now eating carbohydrates again, albeit much less, and can discuss this with Dr. Stracke at any time.
I always have a slight iron deficiency, but this is remedied before it causes problems thanks to sensible infusions.
And what else? I haven't been ill for years, I run the marathon in 3:40 (I'm 57 years old) and I exercise well. I'm doing great - also because I've finally found a doctor who doesn't just treat symptoms quickly, but looks for causes and sees me as a holistic being.
I can only recommend him (and have already done so), even if you don't feel that ill. I would say that Dr. Stracke makes you healthy and keeps you healthy.
