CalcFi is a free financial calculator platform with 375+ tools for mortgages, taxes, paychecks, retirement, insurance, and debt planning. Every formula is cited to a primary federal source — IRS, Federal Reserve, Treasury, SSA, BLS, or CFPB — so

users can verify the math before they sign, file, or pay.
The project exists because other calculator sites failed me. I was refinancing a house and kept hitting paywalls, email gates, and "up to 40% savings" marketing copy instead of real numbers. NerdWallet locked the details behind a lead form. SmartAsset wanted my phone number for an "advisor match." Bankrate's calculations didn't match the IRS docs they claimed to use. So I built CalcFi: every calculator verified daily, cited to the primary source, no signup walls, no lead gen, no tricks.
What makes CalcFi different:
• 100% free, forever. No paywall, no email wall, no freemium tier. Optional, clearly-labeled ads fund the hosting — never the user.
• Every formula cited to a federal source. When the IRS changes tax brackets, CalcFi updates within 24 hours and the "last verified" date is stamped at the top of every page.
• Email yourself a PDF plan in under 60 seconds. No signup required. The report lands in your inbox with a full calculation breakdown and the exact source citations — shareable with your accountant, advisor, or lender.
• 375+ calculators across 8 categories: Mortgage & Real Estate, Tax, Retirement & Investing, Debt & Credit, Insurance, Business & Career, Personal Finance, and Crypto.
• Live Federal Reserve data on every page. Fed funds rate, 10-year Treasury, 30-year mortgage rate, and CPI — updated automatically from FRED.
• State-level and city-level specificity. Tax brackets, salary comparisons, and cost-of-living data for every US state and major metro.
• Spanish-language calculators for the 42 million Spanish-first households in the US underserved by traditional fintech.
CalcFi is built and maintained by an independent team — no VC, no advertiser influence, no affiliate deals with the banks and insurers whose products users compare. The goal is simple: when you're making a financial decision, the numbers should be right, the math should be transparent, and nothing should stand between you and the answer.
