Dear Mr. Köhler,
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your extraordinary eulogy at the funeral of our husband and father, Schmitti.
Even during our preliminary discussions, we greatly appreciated your empathetic manner, your attentiveness, and your valuable advice. You succeeded in painting such a vivid and authentic portrait of our husband and father, Schmitti, based on our memories and stories, that everyone present immediately knew who you were talking about. You captured his personality, his quirks, and his essence in a way that touched us deeply. And you even managed to bring a smile to our faces on this difficult day.
The eulogy was not only dignified and moving, but also incredibly personal. Many guests told us afterward how moved they were by your words and how accurately and warmly you described our husband/father. It was as if they had seen him right before their eyes once more.
During a very difficult time for us, you helped create a dignified and beautiful farewell. We are very grateful to you for that.
There’s one more thing we’d like to highlight. Actually, the timing didn’t work out for you that day, but there were some small things you had in common with Schmitti—the chemistry was just there, and you couldn’t say no :-). And for that, we are infinitely grateful to you.
Warm regards,
The Schmitt and Kellermann Families

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for these touching words. Your praise means the world to me, but even more than that, I thank you for the great trust you have placed in me. It was truly a labor of love for me to serve as the eulogist for your Schmitti. The fact that he was born in Rothemann—and thus came from very close to my hometown—immediately created a personal connection for me. So it went without saying that I would do whatever it took to make it work schedule-wise. It was also a first for me at the Nidderau Memorial Forest, which provided a truly beautiful setting. I’m truly delighted that, through your stories and the many highlights of his life, I was able to portray Schmitti as such a vibrant and approachable person—and that my words brought you a smile and some comfort on this difficult day. It wasn’t a funeral service; it was a farewell and remembrance ceremony—and so much more for him. It was a celebration of his life, of all he had lived and experienced. It was important to me to convey that through my words—for you and as a tribute to him.
I sincerely wish you continued strength and all the best.
With warm regards, Matthias Köhler
