Our family trip by rental car through Costa Rica was a dream. We had many interesting encounters, saw numerous animals, enjoyed beautiful landscapes and beaches and everything worked out perfectly. The advice and organization of Natürlich Reisen was top notch. Thank you very much!
The diversity, complexity and intensity of the impressions, experiences and experiences have surprised us, but very enthusiastic and partly met. At our age (65 and 72 years) we have to admit that the trip was physically very strenuous, including the long car rides on extremely bad roads.
The trip to Costa Rica exceeded our expectations. Natürlich Reisen organized the trip perfectly from Germany. We could rely 100% on the local tour operators. The agreed services (transportation, hotel, events) were detailed in a document we received upon arrival (with organizer, destination, start time, duration, ...) and implemented to the letter. Costa Rica more than lived up to its claim of being the Switzerland of the Americas. It was simply perfect. One notices that tourism is an important source of income, but it is not cheap mass tourism. That has a very positive effect in many ways. There are hotel complexes all along the routes we took, and they blend in beautifully with the surroundings. On the other hand, there are no hotel castles, as you know them from Cancun in Mexico, for example. The facilities we stayed in all had their own special charm, be it because of their construction, be it because of their special location... What stands out is that the locals love their country and love living there, and they like to share that feeling with us. And, no matter what they do, they take their job seriously. Whether employed in a hotel, or a restaurant, or a driver, or a shopkeeper, or a tourist guide - everywhere they strive for great professionalism coupled with quality. And this is embedded in an overwhelming friendliness, for themselves, but also towards us strangers. Everything has its price (Costa Rica is also like Switzerland in this respect), but it is extremely fair and you never see the dollar signs glittering in the eyes. In short - you can feel very comfortable there. It is topped a) by an overwhelming nature, for which Costa Rica is rightly known, and b) by diverse culinary impressions. A word to a): It is a great balancing act that the country is doing by focusing on eco-tourism and still having to cope with several million tourists every year. You can tell. At first glance, quite little original nature seems to have been destroyed by the monocultures (pineapple, banana, coffee and oil palm plantations). Thanks to the tropics, it blossoms and greens everywhere in the finest way. In addition, there are programs to turn arable land back into forest. There are also other efforts to respect nature and its requirements - for example, there is a functioning garbage collection system with waste separation! It seems to us to be the cleanest country in all of Central and Latin America. The problem lies in tourism itself. Tourists are promised an intact tropical nature with overwhelming flora and fauna. Yes, there are extensive and excellently run national parks and other protected areas. But it is also exactly these areas that have to serve tourism. The plants stay, no matter how many tourists come (most tourists abide by the rules). But animals are different. For example, in Manuel Antonio National Park, when tourists go on guided animal-watching tours, and these groups of people move along the trails at a distance of 20 to 50 meters, the animals can only flee. Unlike in the zoo they have this possibility. With a lot of luck (and binoculars) you can still see a sloth in the tree ( because it is too lazy to run away). All other larger animals have already disappeared from the tourist centers. And in the long run this will also damage the flora. We traveled in the low season, but our impression was: If you want to see the beautiful tropical wildlife of Costa Rica, with toucans, macaws, sloths, crocodiles, monkeys, deer, wild cats, turtles, snakes and frogs, you should visit something like the "Jaguar Rescue Center" in Puerto Viejo de Talamanca on the Caribbean coast. But they don't have a jaguar either.... And a word to b): Costa Rican cuisine is very diverse and influenced by the tropics. It is worth to discover it. We enjoyed the cooking class in the travel program very much. The food is excellent, as are the cocktails. You'll find everything from roadside barbecues to 5-star restaurants. However, if you need a German Schnitzel under the palm trees, you might be better off in Mallorca.... Finally, ripe pineapple that deserves to be eaten! However, many hotels have gotten used to the fact that their guests only know pineapple, banana and melon. Yet there are so many more tropical fruits there! The coffee you drink in Costa Rica takes some getting used to. We can buy excellent coffee from Costa Rica in Germany. But there the coffee tastes different. It is roasted weaker and (like in former times with us also) is infused by means of filter. But there are more and more restaurants, bars and bakeries with cafés that use fully automatic coffee machines. There you get the coffee taste as we know it. The baked goods are also delicious. Food is not everything, but it is an essential part of the travel experience. Who cares - there are Chocolate, Coffee and Sugar Cane tours in many places that can be easily booked at the hotel. With transportation, very knowledgeable guide, enjoyment experience - all done very professionally and with love. Which actually applies to everything we did during the trip. A word about the traffic. It is heavy. Almost everything is transported by road. There are tons of trucks and tons of cars. The trend is towards 2 cars per family. People generally drive very attentively and disciplined. The newer vehicles are in good condition, as there has been some sort of MOT for a few years now. The drivers we dealt with were all excellent drivers, very polite, exceedingly punctual, clean (including vehicle). The road quality is very variable, of course also due to the tropical conditions. Efforts are currently being made to expand the main traffic routes to four lanes. However, this means hundreds of kilometers of road works at a stretch. It is slower, but usually without traffic jams. A lot of heavy road and bridge construction equipment is being used and you get the feeling that things are moving forward.
In summary, we can say that it was a wonderful, thoroughly recommendable trip to a very interesting country, with many wonderful experiences. Costa Rica is a very developed country and does a lot for it. It offers a lot of nature - from white beaches at the Caribbean or the Pacific coast, to the rainforest (oh yes, it could have a lot of rain), to the volcanoes. It offers a very special culture of life that you can feel. Only in the rainforest sunken temples have not yet been discovered, but if you want to see that, there are enough of them on Yucatan. Costa Rica stands for nature experience and that is exactly what made the trip. Gladly again!!! And many thanks to Natürlich Reisen!
Mr. Hennig took excellent care of us in the planning of our Tanzania trip in June. On site we were also very well looked after by the partner agency. On safari we were accompanied by a very sympathetic and competent guide and then on Zanzibar we could relax in the best way.
Many thanks to Mr. Hennig and the entire Natürlich Reisen team for this incredible experience! We will be happy to come back again :-)
Despite the politically tense situation, we are glad to have made this trip. We only had problems at the end of the trip to get gasoline.
Then it worked out with patience.
In the hotels we were partly alone. The staff was always very helpful.
We have not felt unsafe on the trip.
I am more than satisfied, surprisingly detailed descriptions and very practical handling of the information on the phone. Best and punctual support on site and excellent Auswahr of the tour highlights. Wonderful coordination of customer requests and perfect hotel selection and room reservation.
Namibia trip May/June 22: Very satisfied with the tour itinerary and the vehicle (Toyota Raider). However, at this time of year, only air-conditioned tents or lodge should be offered due to temperatures (only 5° at night). Great was also the 7/24 accessibility.
The contact with Mrs. Seyhan was always fast, uncomplicated and friendly. The travel planning was made according to our ideas and wishes, but in retrospect we would have liked a little more tips and advice from Natürlich Reisen that you should plan the one or other stay longer. The experience of the experts in this regard would have helped us a time or two. But all in all we have an impressive and dreamlike time in Namibia, everything was super organized, from the reception at the airport to the accommodations and the booked tours. We would definitely recommend Natürlich Reisen to others. Thank you very much for the support.
I was especially pleased with the tour guide Colette Farrelly. She has a lot of knowledge, humor and empathy. The itinerary was very well chosen and the hotels met my expectations. I will definitely travel with Chameleon again.
From the initial planning to the execution of the trip, everything worked flawlessly. We were in very nice lodges, which could be changed even four weeks before departure. The travel support on site was very nice, competent and have taken a lot of time when explaining the itinerary and have also given valuable tips. All around a perfect trip and absolutely recommended by the organization and planning of Natürlich Reisen.
According to my wishes and time constraints top and individually organized. As a local private guide we could not have imagined a better. All around a fantastic and successful adventure.
Thank you very much.
Very friendly, competent and reliable customer service by Mrs. Wehmeyer. Especially before the departure day, all circumstances of the airport strike were very well accompanied. Only in the flight booking in general would still need a little more transparency, but this is also due to the airlines. Here, significantly cheaper prices appeared in the aftermath via the private control of the airport app. During the flight rebooking, it was also not communicated that the premium economy would be omitted despite the higher price. As I said, due to the lack of time before departure because of strike but all excusable. Thanks for the great trip
You can include your personal wishes, for example, individual tours or destinations in the trip. The same applies to the duration or quality of each stay. Our conclusion it from beginning to end a super nice vacation. Thanks for it
Despite booking at short notice (1 week before departure) everything worked perfectly. Person from the partner company who handed over the documents at the airport was very helpful and helped to find a reliable cab.
Trip generally very well organized and detailed route description.
