Now I’m really learning the basics properly. Even though I’m still struggling with the transition from AI Fingered to Fingered Chords. That’s set me back a bit with the pieces I was already able to play using that method, but the many helpful tips are really helping me improve. I also like that the course doesn’t just strictly follow the companion book, but anticipates more advanced skills. When it comes to fingering, though, I don’t follow the companion material as strictly or precisely. I think everyone has their own individual abilities and preferences in that regard. I also like that it’s pointed out early on that you shouldn’t just stick to the sheet music, and that the goal is to play from memory with ornamentation. I also like that you’re always encouraged to play the pieces in different styles and on different instruments. So far, I’ve really enjoyed the course. Thanks to my prior knowledge, I’m able to progress more quickly through the lessons. But I’ll still follow them all closely so I don’t miss any of Helmut’s valuable tips. Since the course uses different keyboards, it’s naturally difficult to cover all the various settings for each one. But maybe there will be a tip or two for beginners in future lessons. Thanks to my prior knowledge, though, I don’t really miss that. All in all, learning here is a lot of fun.
