Five stars for our Hamacher wood construction project (because more is not possible 😊)
Project:
Replacement of an old addition with a new one.
Our building experience:
We had no prior experience because we had previously purchased either turnkey or used.
We knew horror stories of building from acquaintances, neighbors and from our family. Our neighbor across the street has been building for three years, had to kick companies out several times, and still isn't done. Another neighbor took longer to build two garages than our Hamacher house took in time. Another has contracted and paid for a soundproofed room. Only unfortunately, it is not soundproofed (not so with Hamacher; see below).
The back story:
1st attempt: We looked for the first architect. When we realized that she couldn't even handle a folding rule and she documented the main building completely wrong, we abandoned this attempt (and paid for it!).
2nd attempt: We went to a woodworker (not Hamacher). This one came, walked around the house once, quoted an incomprehensible utopian price and was gone again.
3rd attempt: We went to the construction fair in Bonn-Hardtberg. Here we listened to a lecture by Mr. Ulrich Hamacher about the building process from the initial meeting to the acceptance, about the calculation and possible limited deviations. We registered: This company works in a structured way. And so it came to pass.
Our project:
We had now made the preliminary decision for Hamacher. Of course, the price should somehow fit our clearly limited budget.
During the first phone call, Mr. Ulrich Hamacher said we should first ask the city what we were allowed to do. That was a good idea. It always takes a lot of effort to talk to the authorities on the phone, but the contact person at the city of Brühl really took his time. After that, we knew that our plan was 50 cm too long. We shortened it accordingly.
Mr. Ulrich Hamacher came to us. You could tell right away that he understood what we wanted. After a visit and a conversation, he calmly calculated for 20 minutes. The price that came out after the twenty was right to the end. The deviations resulted exclusively from additional special requests (tiles, electrical connections, bathroom furniture, ...). However, these deviations were also clarified before signing.
After a few discussions, the contract was signed. Everything went as described in the presentation at the construction fair. The entire construction project fit into the pandemic 16% VAT half-year 2020, which still gave us a savings. Acceptance took place on time in December 2020.
I don't know if there are construction projects entirely without glitches. Here, too, two things had gone wrong (wrong window element without a "second escape route", a pierced cable). And that is what characterizes Hamacher-Holzbau now: Without batting an eye, the mistakes were quickly rectified.
An essential part of the new extension was a soundproofed 50 sqm music room with soundproof doors. This room now houses a C.Bechstein grand piano. The result: you can't hear anything outside the room. Yes, you read correctly: Nothing. Here you can see the difference. It delivers what was promised.
Conclusion: We are happy with our Hamacher Holzhaus. Our recommendation: Hamacher Holzbau!
