Copywriting? Anyone can do it!
Wait a minute - what? It's not that easy, is it?
Yes, it is. Take a few fresh tools (A-Class), a good dose of sales psychology, a pinch of humor and the Chef de la Cuisine: Youri. Because Youri likes to cook with letters. And anyone can do it, he says.
It's the end of 2022.
I'm looking for a 'really good' copywriting course - and in German, please.
I work as a designer and project manager for a Dutch company and we've been venturing into the German market for three years at this point. The recurring question of my Dutch colleagues to translate the website texts into German awakens frustration and resistance in me more and more often. Because I realize that 'translating' simply doesn't work.
It's as clear as a sunny morning in autumn: we don't have to translate, we have to write. Develop our own language. Pick up on cultural differences. Understand our customers and what moves them.
Since there is no German copywriter in our team and we are not so happy with the work of previous freelancers, I decide to take the writing into my own hands. I find Youri's site.
It doesn't take long to realize that I'm getting what I need here.
No blah blah and no nasty sales tricks, just honest selling for happy customers. That's what makes our company tick. It's important to me that it fits.
Saying "Free seats: 2," Youri puts a few extra flaming logs under my butt (spoiler: that's called arousing urgency). I'm on fire and my registration isn't long in coming.
February is when it all starts. Twelve weeks ... really getting down to the letter-bullets. It takes time and energy, but I couldn't have asked for a better course. Step by step, our small group learns all the ins & outs of copywriting. Youri encourages me each week with his feedback on my first, shaky writing attempts. What I've done intuitively so far, I can suddenly underpin or over-write and re-write. And ultimately sign off. With the insight into sales psychology and the human brain, pieces of the puzzle fall into place - our little group has many an ahaaa experience!
When I reach my destination, I know not only what to write, but also why.
My path to independent writing now leads me to the elaboration of a manual, in which it is written what is important when writing our texts. This way, my colleagues and I always have a guideline that we can follow. Then comes the text work: Hopefully I'll get to write a lot more in the future. It's really fun.
And if I can do it, anyone can. But you already knew that.
Thanks Youri!
