I have now flown as a "self-flyer" with both a closed and an open machine.
Both have their charms and were unforgettable, memorable experiences.
With the open version, the airy component comes into play even more. In addition to the controls, you feel the wind, the speed, the engine noise and are somehow free.
With the closed version, I was allowed to do more myself, e.g. start the engine, check the ignition, taxi to the starting point, take off and temporarily take over the controls.
I think I'll do it again at some point and I've already done a lot of advertising.
