We were in India in January 2020 for 8 days as a couple; typically Dehli - Jaipur - Agra - Dehli. Booked through an Indian travel agency from Jaipur with car and driver. For the cities we had booked different German speaking guides. Bikram Kumar was our guide in Dehli. We liked each other right away and suggested that we become on a first-name basis. Since I take a lot of pictures, I had agreed with Bikram that we could also stop at any time if there was something interesting. That was no problem at all. For the first day in Dehli, we had specific ideas of what we wanted to see. The first thing we did in India was go to the ATM. Bikram immediately knew where various ATMs were near the hotel. After that, we went in to Old Delhi. The big mosque in the middle of the old city is impressive. The walk through the alleys as well as the visit of one of his friends in his house we liked very much. We always wanted to know what it looks like behind the scenes. With a rishka we went through the narrow streets through a hustle and bustle of people, most of them dragging something or transporting it by bicycle. People, voices, sounds, manifold smells became present on the spice market like in a Bollywood movie. Incredible ! Here Bikram guided us in his calm way and explained the spices. The time passed so quickly. I would have liked to stay longer. At noon we were in a restaurant which we liked very much (food, service, ambience). Was the best restaurant on the tour. By the way, there is a snake charmer sitting in front of it.
Summing up Bikram : Punctual, not pushy, polite, a lot of information explained in German understandable and ! he was always looking out for us (please go left) !
Another recommendation : If you do not want to visit stores of carpet and jewelry dealers etc. on your trip through India, then you should say this beforehand and if necessary again in between.
Conclusion : There is still so much that interests me culturally (people, landscape, religion) and I would like to photograph very much. It's no use, I have to go there again. Maybe again with Bikram....
