In September, I approached the company KERN-Unternehmensnachfolge in Krefeld, represented by Mr. Knuffmann, as a prospective buyer.
During the initial contact, I received a friendly phone call and was given the opportunity to introduce myself.
After the initial contact with KERN, I very quickly received an appointment with the salesman of the company I was interested in, to take a look at the company from the inside.
This was followed by very professional discussions in which each side outlined their ideas for the future of the company and the purchase price.
When we agreed and decided to deepen the purchase process, both the seller and I as the buyer, were supported in all areas by the broker Mr. Knuffmann.
Especially as far as my person as a young entrepreneur was concerned, a lot of hurdles were set up by the banks, development banks and the local IHK Lower Rhine and it was made unmistakably clear that a succession was not desired, especially by the development banks and IHK. This was a real disappointment for the salesman, since he had provided 38 years of jobs subject to social insurance contributions and had always remained loyal to the Krefeld location.
Mr. Knuffmann was always there to advise me during this time and together we tried to find solutions to bring the purchase process to a conclusion, which was successful in the end.
We found an optimal solution for both sides and agreed on a smooth transition period with the seller of at least 2 years. So the company can look into the future with new innovations, through my person, the experience and the network of 38 years, through the seller.
