This workshop explores “artificial intelligence” (AI) and its impact on the workforce in our society. Unfortunately, despite the already “known” effects and the serious short- and long-term consequences expected from the massive investment in its further development, this topic has not yet been given the attention it deserves in our society. There is a tremendous need for continuing education initiatives in this area. The profound changes brought about by AI affect a wide range of professions, including those that were considered absolutely future-proof just a few years ago (e.g., data analysts) and may currently even be classified as “shortage occupations” (e.g., tax clerks). Each individual faces the need to critically examine their own qualifications and skills to determine to what extent AI can or could take over parts of their current work. Furthermore, they must consider and analyze which of their own skills cannot be performed by AI. Evaluating both of these issues reveals the need for action on the part of each individual—that is, which measures or competencies (technical, interpersonal, AI-related, and digital) are necessary to acquire or develop in order to secure a job in the future.
The KOSYS workshop “Brain Meets AI” is dedicated precisely to these questions. As is typical of Kosys, the 4-hour workshop was excellently structured and prepared in terms of content, and was conducted in a goal-oriented manner. The worksheets provided guided participants step-by-step toward an “initial assessment” of their current situation, AI-impacted tasks, their specific skills, and a personal action plan. The connection to the personal Basiston and WOOYCE—KOSYS’s core competencies—was fascinating. A fantastic and insightful event that we highly recommend to everyone.
