After a very pleasant and confident initial consultation, I decided to sign the contract and make a mandatory advance payment of just under €5,000 (including VAT). I was promised (albeit not bindingly) that this amount would probably be largely sufficient to conclude my case.
After just under two months, however, I was severely and financially disappointed. After an interim invoice with a remaining balance of around €300, I was asked to make another advance payment of just under €5,000. In my opinion, the progress was extremely slow.
The smallest billing unit seems to be 10 minutes. Each two-line email apparently costs over €70. The result was absolutely and more than unsatisfactory. The complaint discussion about the invoice and a conversation with the opposing party to find out the latest status cost me a further €1,100 - again without any significant added value. Although the lawyer had, of course, held out the prospect, lawyer-style "without obligation", that obtaining the latest status from the opposing party could be offset against a few admittedly unjustified invoice items. So "dissatisfied" is a long way from describing it. Even my email to terminate the mandate was included in the final invoice at over €70. Against this background, I really cannot make a recommendation here ... on the contrary!
